They focus on one girl, spend more and more time with her, and even though they know somewhere in the back of their mind that they should not take it seriously, they drift into treating her like a girlfriend. Once you treat a woman like a girlfriend, she will either expect to be your girlfriend or she will stop seeing you. So you end up in a relationship you never consciously chose. Then when she does something you dislike, or shows disrespect, you cannot bring yourself to end it because you have already invested too much emotionally. That inability to act becomes a slow drain on your self-confidence.
