The Builder-Distributor: The Most Important Founder Skill in the AI Age
For years there was a clear separation: one person built the product, another handled sales and marketing. Wozniak built, Jobs sold. One person wrote the code, another wrote the copy, one made the product, another got the attention. AI in an agentic world collapses that separation entirely. A single person can now prototype the product, build the landing page, write the launch thread, shoot a video, record the demo, DM the first 100 users, edit short-form clips, and iterate on feedback — pretty much everything. That person has a massive advantage because they don't have to wait for handoffs. They can close the loop themselves, so nothing gets lost in translation. The loop is the whole game: build something small, put it in front of people, watch where they get confused, change the product, change the story, try again. Most people only do half — they build forever in secret or they talk publicly forever and never ship. The builder-distributor learns by switching between both sides.
