Content strategy and product strategy are the same mental model
The same prospecting-for-winners logic that applies to content applies directly to building a business. First-time founders often think 'I'm trying to get the market to buy this thing I invented.' The professional approach is the opposite: what does the market want to buy that it currently can't? Can I build it, and can I sell it to them? With content, the parallel question is: what content is the market currently receptive to? By mining content from other sources that has already had a viral moment, you can leapfrog the discovery process — identify what's working, then put your own spin and angle on it. The market has already told you what it wants; your job is to deliver it.
