If a marketing engineer can save $2 million in wasted spend and double conversion rates, the value created is enormous — and compensation reflects that. The person who can credibly walk into a room and say 'I will create pipeline, lift conversion, and cut wasted spend' has a direct line to business value that most marketers don't. That's how someone becomes a $500K hire, and at the top end, the income potential is even higher than that. The original prediction of a million dollars a year is probably conservative for the best practitioners in this space.
