Why GPT-4.5 is the best model for agentic harnesses like Hermes
By far the best model to use today for something like a Hermes agent or an Open Claude setup is GPT 5.5. It's so efficient with tool calls — it doesn't eat through tokens the way Opus 4.7 from Anthropic does. OpenAI is also very generous about letting you use your paid plan with any harness like Hermes or Open Claude, so you get a lot of usage out of it. The recommendation is straightforward: just use 5.5 to make it easy.
