Use a 2x2 matrix to prioritize which AI workflows to build first

By Greg Isenberg

A useful prioritization framework for AI agency opportunities plots Frequency (Low vs. High) on one axis and Scope (Niche vs. General) on the other. The clear starting point is the top-right quadrant: niche workflows that are high frequency. Find workflows that are specific to a particular industry, function, or company size, and that people perform constantly. If you can build those workflows and demonstrate them on a sales call, in a brief, in a proposal, or in content — and keep repeating that process — you'll have a layup ahead of you. From there, you move to general but still high-frequency workflows, because once clients have the niche stuff handled, they'll want help with the things they do all the time that are slightly less specialized. Finally, you can pursue niche but low-frequency workflows, which may carry higher ROI even though they don't come up as often. Starting with niche and high-frequency gives you the clearest proof of value and the easiest sales motion.
