As an FDE starting out, go deep on one model before going model-agnostic
As a company, being fully model-agnostic is a genuine asset — you can switch from one model to the next, accuracy only improves, costs only go down, and you're not locked into a single intelligence provider. You never want to monopolize your inference layer. But if you're an FDE starting out today, the right move is the opposite: pick one model and one agent-building platform — OpenAI's, Claude's, Agent SDK, whatever — and get very, very good at it. That foundation is what gives you confidence to then try Claude, then Gemini, then open-source models, then a proprietary harness. Being model-agnostic is not where your value lies when you're just getting started.
