Women's stated preferences online rarely match their actual behavior

By Fabrizio Rausa

A recurring theme in this conversation is the gap between what women announce they want and what they actually do. Women post lists of requirements, such as minimum height, no TikTok activity, no crude language, yet in practice they pursue men who violate every item on the list. The same applies in reverse: men publicly declare they want a supermodel or a perfectly obedient partner, then end up with someone who fits none of those criteria. The broader point is that online self-presentation, for both sexes, describes an idealized fantasy rather than real decision-making. What happens in practice and what gets posted are usually two different things.
