Why women who post constantly say they want men with no social media

By Fabrizio Rausa

The observation here is that female influencers and heavy social media users frequently claim to want a partner who stays off social media entirely. The argument made is that, in social circles where status competition is intense, the ultimate status symbol for a woman is having a devoted, generous boyfriend who buys her things and does not have his own online audience. A man with no social media presence and disposable income to spend on her represents the highest form of social bragging rights in those circles. The irony pointed out is that the very women broadcasting this preference are themselves deeply embedded in the attention economy they claim to reject in a partner.
