Why assumptions move a conversation faster than questions

By Fabrizio Rausa

Fabrizio Rausa explains that assumptions are more powerful than direct questions because they create a frame the other person has to respond to. Instead of asking "do you want to meet?" or "are you crazy?", you state it as a given. The woman can either prove herself, agree playfully, or push back, but all of those responses keep the conversation alive and moving forward. A question puts her in control of the frame; an assumption puts you in control of it.
