Suppressing your urges builds a shadow self you cannot escape
Fabrizio Rausa draws on a concept he credits to someone called Zurka: you should not suppress yourself. If you feel like doing something, do it. Constantly telling yourself "I shouldn't, I shouldn't" is exactly how you build a shadow, a repressed version of yourself that grows heavier over time. The healthy alternative is not always acting on every impulse immediately, but redirecting or delaying it rather than killing it entirely. Delaying is fine. Suppressing is the problem. The goal is that with each passing day you feel the need to suppress yourself less, not more.
