Silicone stretch food savers are a space-efficient alternative to rigid containers on a boat

By Lauren Landers Sailing

Storage space is at a premium on a sailboat, and rigid plastic containers take up the same volume whether they are full or empty. Lauren Landers Sailing found silicone stretch food saver discs as a practical workaround for small leftover pieces of fruit and vegetables. Each disc has a flexible silicone membrane that stretches and seals directly over the cut surface of the food, so you do not need a container at all for items like a halved lemon or a partial onion. When they are not in use, the discs are flat and take up almost no space in a drawer. Lauren describes them as two-piece discs in red and green and says they are linked on her storefront because she is genuinely excited about the space-saving benefit.
