Lauren Landers Sailing set off to Teahupo'o (Chopu), one of the world's most famous surf breaks in Tahiti, sailing with friends Pinnacle and Isa. The passage was roughly 35 miles, with a plan to throw out the jib and motor sail once wind dropped on the lee side of Tahiti. Conditions turned out stunning: 12-18 knots of wind, speeds up to 8.5 knots, and glassy, beautiful water. The wind eventually died as Tahiti blocked it, just as expected.
