Herb keeper containers extend the shelf life of fresh herbs in a boat fridge
Fresh herbs go limp and spoil quickly in a boat refrigerator, which tends to be smaller and more humid than a home fridge. Lauren Landers Sailing picked up tall, clear cylindrical herb keeper containers that have a water reservoir in the base. You trim the herb stems, stand them upright in the container, add a little water to the reservoir, and seal the lid. This keeps the herbs hydrated from the bottom up, similar to keeping flowers in a vase, and significantly extends how long they stay fresh. Lauren mentions these are well known to viewers in the United States but may be a new find for international audiences.
