Best time to snorkel or dive a Tuamotu pass for clear water
When planning a dive or snorkel through a pass in the Tuamotus, timing the tidal cycle matters a lot. Near the peak or end of an incoming tide, the water coming in from the ocean is clearest and visibility is at its best. If you can hit that window just as the current is slackening toward slack tide, you get both good visibility and manageable current. Lauren times the dive at Rangiroa's pass with exactly this logic: incoming tide nearly peaked, water clear, current almost slack.
