Arriving at False Pass: timing a first-ever anchorage entry at last light
Lauren Landers Sailing arrived at False Pass with just a sliver of daylight remaining. She specifically wanted to enter in daylight because she had never been there before and needed to locate a mooring buoy. She notes that finding a mooring in an unfamiliar anchorage at night is exactly the kind of thing that can go wrong, so she timed the approach to make use of whatever light was left. Once in, she describes the anchorage as paradise, with very clear water and only two other boats present.
