Anchor snubber setup: rope bridle with chafe sleeve on galvanized chain

By Lauren Landers Sailing

Underwater footage from Mora shows the anchor setup in detail. The galvanized anchor chain runs down from the bow to the sandy bottom, and a rope snubber with a protective chafe sleeve connects to the chain to absorb load and reduce shock on the windlass. The chain itself rests on the sand, and the snubber takes the riding load. This kind of setup is standard practice for reducing wear and noise at anchor, and the underwater view makes the arrangement easy to see clearly.
