A small spinnaker sock trick that makes dropping the halyard much easier
After dousing the spinnaker into its snuffer sleeve, Lauren Landers Sailing learned to tie the sock off right at the collar before bringing the halyard down. Because her mast has no cleat, controlling the halyard while also managing the bundled sail is awkward. Tying the sock off first secures the doused sail bundle independently, so the halyard can be lowered without having to juggle everything at once. It is a simple step that removes a lot of the chaos from an already busy foredeck moment.
