A cracked watermaker elbow fitting can flood your bilge fast
While running the watermaker on the first sunny day in a while, Lauren Landers Sailing heard a water spring below deck. Lifting the floorboard revealed water pouring from a 90-degree push-fit plastic elbow fitting on the watermaker pump. The fitting had started to crack, and when she went to remove it, half of it broke off inside the pump. The part was in an awkward position, requiring the whole pump to be unscrewed and lifted before the broken piece could be extracted. When it finally came out, there was no replacement spare on board.
