Why use cloud VMs instead of local Mac minis for running AI agents
The core reason to use cloud computers over physical Mac minis comes down to remote management, scalability, and safety. With a Mac mini, if something breaks at the hardware level — an update goes wrong, something corrupts — you'd have to go in person to debug it. Cloud computers let you manage all your agents from wherever you are. Beyond convenience, isolated cloud VMs give you a much smaller blast radius if something goes wrong: you can delete a compromised environment in under a second and spin up a fresh one immediately. From a security standpoint, that isolation also protects both you and your customers from risks that would be far more dangerous on a shared personal machine. And from a business-scaling perspective, having all agents on one platform accessible via one connector — where your own agent can connect to all of them — is simply the easiest fulfillment path when you're serving multiple customers.
