Why mediocre SaaS dies slowly, not overnight: the bandwidth constraint
Mediocre software is dead — but the timeline is likely longer than most people are predicting. Even the most AI-first banks and software companies, when asked whether they've already rebuilt their internal DocuSign, their Salesforce, or other legacy tools, tend to say no. Not because they can't, but because they're bandwidth constrained, or because they've prioritized something else. As long as billions of people haven't used these tools and as long as the enterprises deploying AI are still running out of hours, mass adoption of AI-built SaaS replacements inside the enterprise won't happen overnight. If it still takes something like 100 hours to rebuild a CRM at scale, only companies with people who have those 100 hours available and who know how to use these tools will be able to take advantage. The SaaS apocalypse is real, but it's gated by human bandwidth, not just technical capability.
