The game theory for large company incumbents is brutally simple: the CEO's choice is either pay a massive check — say $100 million or more — to an AI consulting or transformation firm, risk wasting the money, and maybe get fired over it, or do nothing with AI and definitely get fired over it. On a pure game-theory level, that means everybody is going to pay it right now. Whether that actually results in long-term structural transformation — turning a 50,000-person company into one that could effectively be run by five people — is a bigger, still-open question.
