What a 'profile' actually is inside Hermes Agent

By Greg Isenberg

A profile in Hermes is literally just a separate agent. Each profile has its own set of skills, its own soul.md file that defines its personality, its own set of memories, and its own history of sessions and chats. They are completely independent agents living inside one application. On the Hermes desktop app, profiles are organized in a bottom selector bar so you can click between them instantly — no need to open a terminal and type commands to switch. The profiles shown as an example include a default Hermes (powered by Claude Opus), a coder profile, a GPT-me profile (powered by GPT-5.5), a librarian, an Oracle, and a Qwen profile running locally on a DGX Spark machine.
