The three-word prompt that unlocks proactive AI agents: 'Do smart things'
Rather than always being the one to initiate every task — even scheduled ones — Greg Isenberg realized he should stop being the first domino. His solution was to give his AI workforce a deliberately vague, three-word prompt: 'do smart things.' The agents have access to every context document he has — business docs, personal goals for 2026, meeting transcripts, email, calendar, Notion, Stripe, Supabase, GitHub, and more. Several times a day, the AI looks across all of that context and acts on its own initiative. This level of autonomous, goal-oriented behavior from a vague prompt simply wasn't possible a year ago, but models at the level of GPT and similar frontier systems can now handle it.
