The right question to ask about local models isn't 'is it smarter?'
The first question most people ask when evaluating a local model is whether it's smarter than the biggest model in the cloud. That's actually the wrong question. The more useful question is: is this model good enough for the job, and does running it locally make the product better? Once you reframe it that way, business opportunities start to appear everywhere. You stop chasing maximum intelligence and start looking for the right fit between the model's capabilities and the specific context — privacy, latency, offline access, repeated workflows — where local genuinely wins.
