The request becomes the transaction: why this is a really big idea

By Greg Isenberg

The core insight behind the new agent-native internet is simple but profound: the request becomes the transaction. Right now, tiny resources scattered across the internet — data sets, research archives, product catalogs, APIs — exist without a native way to charge for access. That changes when AI agents become the primary consumers of those resources. A data set can charge per lookup. An API can charge per successful call. A research archive can charge per answer. A product catalog can charge per comparison. Every resource that an agent needs frequently, reliably, and urgently enough becomes a potential business. That's the reason this shift matters far beyond any single product launch — it's about the businesses that can be built on top of it.
