How to set up your first AI agent team: start with a Chief of Staff
When you start with a platform like Grokbot, they give you a set of preloaded agents to pick from. The right first move is to select a Chief of Staff agent. If you already have an existing business, give it access to your business docs on day one — things like Notion, Slack, and Gmail — and have it do an audit. Tell it to take stock of the business and then recommend the top three agents to create first, with a mission focused on driving revenue. For a local newsletter business, the Chief of Staff came back recommending a research agent to find newsletter content, a sales agent, and a platform-specific expert agent (in this case, a Beehive expert) so the Chief of Staff doesn't have to know everything about every tool. The principle generalizes: if your business depends heavily on a platform like Shopify, create a dedicated Shopify agent rather than overloading your Chief of Staff.
