How to run Gemma locally with LM Studio: a practical first step
To make local AI real, start with LM Studio — it's free to download. Open the app and search for Gemma 4. If your machine is solid, try the E4B version; if it's older or slower, look for E2B. Either way, grab the quantized GGUF version so the model runs comfortably on your hardware. Once it downloads, open a chat and ask it something simple but business-relevant — for example: 'Read these customer notes and turn them into a one-page memo about what customers are struggling with, what has changed, and what the business should fix this week.' Paste in real or fake customer notes. The point is immediate: the model is now running on your machine, and you're using AI without sending that prompt to a cloud server. Everyone should feel what that is at least once — it unlocks your thinking in a completely new way.
