AI tax software cut one accountant's 180-hour job down to 15 hours

A mid-sized accounting firm backed by Thrive Capital built AI on top of OpenAI's models and used it during tax season to process 7,000 returns. On average, accountants saved 31% of their time. The most striking example: one accountant had a recurring job that used to consume 180 hours a year and got it down to 15. The interns who used to prepare returns were retrained to review them instead — the people who used to do the work are becoming the people who check it.
