AI slop happens when agents stay in the same loop — creativity requires breaking it

By Greg Isenberg

One of the core reasons AI-generated content ends up looking the same — what people call 'AI slop' — is that when an agent runs under the same loop repeatedly, it just follows that loop and produces output that is indistinguishable from everything else it has made. What makes humans valuable is the ability to constantly push ideas forward as culture shifts. Social content, for instance, should move with where culture is going. If your agent system has no mechanism for introducing genuinely new creative input, the output will converge toward sameness over time. Breaking out of the loop — whether through a dedicated idea-generation agent or periodic human intervention — is what keeps the work from going stale.
